SCO 26/27: Prokofiev & Bartók

Please note: this concert is a matinee performance, starting at 2pm. Alena Baeva (violin/director) Alena Baeva returns to Scotland to direct a matinee performance full of energy, elegance and drama. At the heart of this programme is Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto, a work of striking beauty and bold invention. Baeva brings her trademark intensity to one of the 20th century’s most captivating concertos, from the haunting opening to its fiery finale. The programme opens with Dvořák’s lyrical Romance, followed by Prokofiev’s colourful Overture on Hebrew Themes. Bartók’s Divertimento rounds off the afternoon with rhythmic vitality and folk-inspired charm.
