Autumn Lectures: The Story of Highdown Hill
Join us for a lecture revealing the fascinating history of Highdown Hill. From Bronze Age enclosure to Iron Age hill fort, through to Roman residence and Anglo-Saxon cemetery, this talk will take an in-depth look at one of Worthing’s most famous hills. Results from the successful Highdown Big Dig 2025 will also be presented, showing that Highdown has yet to give up all of its secrets. A full programme of eight talks delivered by our curator James Sainsbury, including four brand new lectures. These talks cover everything from the Prehistoric archaeology of Worthing and the wider area, to the dawn of photography and the development of the town in the 19th and 20th centuries.
