Autumn Lectures: The Archaeology of the Arun Valley

The Archaeology of the Arun Valley - 3rd November 2026 A brand new talk from our curator James, looking at the archaeology of the river Arun from the Palaeolithic through to the arrival of the Normans. The Arun has flowed through Sussex for hundreds of thousands of years and we will explore its length from Littlehampton to Pulborough, with stops at Ford, Lyminster, Arundel, Burpham, Amberley and more. A full programme of eight talks delivered by our curator James Sainsbury, including four brand new lectures. These talks cover everything from the Prehistoric archaeology of Worthing and the wider area, to the dawn of photography and the development of the town in the 19th and 20th centuries.
