Remarkable Women In The History of Art: Women of the Dutch Golden Age
Although the art produced during the Dutch Golden Age is usually associated with male artists, women were equally active as artists and innovators in the seventeenth-century Netherlands. The names and careers of many women were erased in the centuries to follow. While restricted from some formal training, many women thrived as artists, particularly in still-life and portraiture. We will examine some of their works with a particular focus on the lives and works of two outstanding representatives;
